Fukurou Japanese Restaurant

I had to take a lone dinner so I decided to try this new place that’s giving out 20% discount for their Opening promo.

The place is pretty bright and cheery. With the latest Jpop music in the background and all their waitresses are chinese speaking. ( Yes I said waiteresses because I didn’t see any male waiters )

Really friendly people till i got coaxed into signing up for their member card. RM 10 bux for an extra 5% discount till 23rd Dec and 10% off all year round. I’m not sure if I regret that move.

Anyway, back to the food. My first impression wasn’t too good as I felt the food was slightly more bland than the other jap restaurants. I took the yaki niku set for RM22.90.  The miso soup wasn’t thick enough and it was too hot when it was served. The rice paired with the yaki niku looked pretty lonely and although the portion was just enough, it felt a little dry eating it like that. How I wished i had a salad somewhere or a chawanmushi to go with it. The beef was pretty ok but I think wagamama had more tender beef and the set is cheaper as well

I realized that people were like in frenzy ordering a whole lot of sushi (which costs RM6 per plate) so I decided to try their maguro (tuna) sushi. Really fresh stuff and I’m instantly in love especially after the pretty low quality stuff I had myself stuffed with during the Sushi King promotion. Well no complaints for RM2 per sushi :P

My overall impression. Everything’s pretty pricey, but I think the sushi’s are worth it. Oh and they have Spider Maki (5 pcs) for RM12. I think that would be really worth it with my 25% discount card! I’ll definitely go back during this promo period.

Mega Sale – really makes you spend $$

After a long trip to KL … (business trip mind u… not to enjoy). I actually had the time to grab some souvenirs to put some excitement back into life, and lighten your wallet at the same time….

Under Pressure

Some people excel under pressure. I’m not one of them though. You know when in sports, you see players playing worse than before, not being able to do things where they could easily done if it was just a casual game, thats the performance reduction stress. I wonder what they do to overcome it?

The joy of learning

I heard a qoute once “the result is not as important as the process towards the result”. Even though it made sense, sometimes it is difficult to enjoy the process of the learning curve when you obviously suck at it compared to the masters. I realized today that the key to overcoming that might just be to feel a sense of achievement for every little progress you have made, instead of looking at the final goal and think why am I so far from it.

It might sound pretty easy, but in times of competition (like competitive sports), its hard to think that way when you get your ass whopped by pros.

Maybe the only way out is to play with someone just slightly better?
